Biography
Dr. Kevin Carson, co-founder of Georgia Vascular Institute, saw a need and felt called to make a change. Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Carson witnessed firsthand the dire healthcare needs in his community. From the lack of physicians available to the challenges of access and awareness, the problems were stark. Inspired by those needs, and the women in his family who battled uterine fibroids, Dr. Carson set his sights on a career in medicine.
He graduated from Dartmouth College and attended Temple University School of Medicine. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Carson performed his internship at Tufts University, and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He then completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at Columbia University.
Dr. Carson became committed to the fight against uterine fibroids and empowering women through treatment. Upon learning of a nonsurgical breakthrough known as uterine fibroid embolization, Dr. Carson became one of the first doctors to perform the procedure in the Southern Crescent. As a result, Dr. Carson was named a top doctor by the staff and physicians at Southern Regional Medical Center in 2005.
Today, Dr. Carson continues pursuing his passion. He and his medical partner, Dr. Sendhil Subramanian, have created a state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for women suffering from fibroids. At Georgia Vascular Institute, Dr. Carson strives to change lives, one patient at a time. The gratitude of his patients, he says, proves to be the most rewarding aspect of his career.
