Meet Dr. Carson
Kevin L. Carson MD, CAQ
Dr. Kevin L. Carson is a trusted authority on non-invasive treatments for fibroids and hemorrhoids. A globally recognized physician, educator, and pioneer in his field, Dr. Carson is driven by a passion for empowering patients to overcome the debilitating challenges of uterine fibroids, hemorrhoids, and other vascular conditions to achieve full and healthy lives.
Many of the women in Dr. Carson’s life growing up were significantly affected by the severe symptoms of uterine fibroids. For decades, the only treatment available to women suffering from fibroids was invasive procedures that left them battling surgery, recovery, and the emotional burden of being unable to carry a pregnancy. Witnessing the devastating effects of a lack of physicians, inadequate healthcare access, and minimal awareness about treatment options, Dr. Carson felt compelled to pursue a career in medicine and dedicate himself to addressing the unmet needs of people, especially women, suffering from uterine fibroids and other vascular conditions.
Upon graduating from Dartmouth College with a computer science and engineering degree, Dr. Carson attended Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Tufts University and residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, followed by a cardiovascular and interventional radiology fellowship at Columbia University.
“I am committed to combating the debilitating effects of uterine fibroids and empowering women with the knowledge and innovative treatment options they need to reclaim their health and well-being.”
His unique computer science and engineering background, combined with a natural interest in innovation, led Dr. Carson to the intersection of technology and medicine and the breakthrough treatments created to solve medical needs. With the introduction of Uterine Fibroid Embolization, Dr. Carson became one of the first doctors to perform the procedure in the Southern Crescent. This achievement led to his recognition as a TOP doctor by the staff and physicians at Southern Regional Medical Center in 2005. Building on his pioneering work in non-invasive procedures, Dr. Carson remains dedicated to advancing the field of vascular care and providing optimal treatment outcomes that bring hope, healing, and relief to those suffering from fibroids, hemorrhoids, and other vascular conditions.
Dr. Carson founded the Georgia Vascular Institute (The GVI) under the philosophy that no one should suffer from pain or undergo limiting surgery when other options are available. His practice addresses the abundant need for specialized vascular care and increases the accessibility of non-invasive treatments for those who need it most.
“It is a privilege to take care of our patients and help them return to their lives with energy, happiness, and health.”
Highly trusted for his expertise in Fibroid and Hemorrhoid Embolizations, Dr. Carson emphasizes a patient-first philosophy, prioritizing communication, compassion, and an educational approach to healing. He establishes meaningful relationships with every patient and believes that clear communication is the foundation of exceptional individualized care.
Dr. Carson is affiliated with numerous scientific and medical organizations that promote women’s fibroid health, including the Atlanta Medical Association, the Society of Interventional Radiology, and The White Dress Project. He lectures regularly on Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology topics, sharing his niche work and decades of experience in specialized fibroids treatment with medical professionals.
Recognized as a global leader in his field, Dr. Carson has received numerous awards and accolades for his impact, including the Trailblazer Award from the Atlanta Medical Association in 2018, which was voted on by top doctors in the industry, and Southern Regional Health System’s TOP doctor award. His dedication to the community has earned him recognition from Clayton County Public Schools and Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, among others.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Carson is passionate about mentoring and inspiring minority students to pursue careers in medicine. He is an adjunct professor at Morehouse School of Medicine and is actively involved in the Clayton County Mentorship Program. Additionally, Dr. Carson works part-time in the computer industry, serving on the board of CensorMed, comingling his expertise in computer science and medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Carson enjoys being outdoors, biking, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is also an avid reader and is constantly engaged in learning about the latest and greatest innovations in technology and medicine.
