Our founding physician, Dr. Kevin Carson, established the Georgia Vascular Institute to address the abundant need for specialized care within his community. Having witnessed the devastating impact that fibroids and vascular disease had on loved ones and the transformative power of minimally invasive treatments, Dr. Carson envisioned a comprehensive treatment center that would bring hope, healing, and relief to those suffering from fibroids, hemorrhoids, and other vascular conditions. He became one of the first physicians to pioneer non-invasive techniques and has continued pursuing innovative care approaches that improve treatment outcomes and transform lives.

The Fibroid Treatment Center

For decades, the singular treatment for uterine fibroids was a complete hysterectomy. At The GVI, we believe that no one should suffer from fibroid pain or undergo limiting surgery when other options are available. We treat fibroids using Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), which blocks blood flow to the fibroids and causes them to shrink. This non-surgical procedure has a lower risk of major complications, is an outpatient procedure, requires minimal recovery time, and keeps the uterus intact.
